Napoleons command base, step one

Napoleons command base, step one

Now that the base for Lord Uxbridge is finished, it is time to start with the one for Napoleon. Now I am not 100% sure yet, which minis I will use for this base. Mainly because I have a vision for the terrain and I am not sure how many minis will actually find space on the base. But I am sure that these four will be the minimum:

Minis for the Napoleon base

Minis for the Napoleon base

Three of them are from Perry Miniatures FN117 and one ADC from FN3. These are (from left to right) Napoleon himself, Maréchal Soult, a mounted ADC and Mameluke Ali.

Since many of the uniform items for the minis on the Uxbridge base were similar I painted them all at once. In this case each mini is wearing a vastly different uniform, so they will be painted one after the other. I began with the ADC. While I should probably just have painted him in the blue uniform of an imperial orderly, I wanted something more flashy for this one. So his uniform was inspired by the Chasseurs à Cheval of the Imperial Guard. Why inspired? Well the uniform breast on this Perry miniature does not 100% match the Chasseur à Cheval´s uniform, but otherwise, he is virtually a perfect match. I also took the liberty to paint the breast in red to give the mini some more colour. I gave him the light blue armband for an ADC to a General de Brigade. So he will hanging on in the backgrounds waiting to deliver a command back to his General, probably the Young Guards to check the Prussians advancing on Napoleons flank at Waterloo. 😉 So here is the finished mini:

Up next, and on my painting table right now, is Mameluke Ali.

He could also be from one of the elite companies of the 1st or 4th Chevaux-Leger-Lanciers. Excellent paint job.

    Thank you guys!

@ Rob: Good idea, if someone complains about his uniform, that gives me more ammo! 😉
